It's been a busy month

Ramadan is almost over! I hope the past few weeks went well for everyone and we're so blessed to have showers of rain every now and then, Alhamdulillah!

It's been a busy month for us I must say, there's always much to do for the month itself and the oncoming Eid preparations. Sameer is as usual excited about completing 30 days of fasting. He's all grown up now and displays much maturity in his lifestyle and habits. He goes to bed early as he's afraid lack of sleep might tire him out during the day. He even takes a short nap after sehri before he goes off to school. I used to have a hard time getting him to sleep during the previous Ramadans! Good to see him being responsible for his well-being and health. Even as I type now, he's fast asleep because it's school holidays for him this week!

This is random but I still want to jot it down. I was sitting down observing my hands and muttering about how ugly my hands have become what with the scars and dry skin. I know I'm such a whiner and I wasn't expecting my little one to say anything but he went like, "Ammi, you must always be grateful that at least you have hands and you can make use of your hands!".  Stumped. Okay son, I will never whine again specially when you are around :P

I finally baked some cookies yesterday and Mr Sheikh finished painting the living room which badly needed a fresh coat of paint. By the way this is the first time he volunteered to paint! Maybe he doesn't want to end up taking care of a bedridden wife with spine problems LOL. So yeah things are quite relaxed with me this year, makes me want to cry!!!! He even insisted on choosing the carpet and other furnishings, which is soooooo unlike him! I'm quite surprised really, took me a decade to see this side of him. I was actually quite convinced such a side did not exist in him. I love surprises :P

Sameer and me were in a cab last Friday and this Chinese cabby related to me his experience living and working in Pakistan. He practically sang praises of the food and friends he had while posted in Karachi for a year. Yesterday we were in another cab and there were some news of bombings in Pakistan on the radio. The Chinese cabby started talking about how bad all Pakistanis are. He said he used to work for an arrogant Pakistani many years back and based on that experience he hates all Pakistanis. In the back seat, Sameer and me exchanged glances and smiled because of the stark contrast Pakistanis were perceived by 2 different cabbies. He then mentioned his "Pakistani" boss's name. He said that Mohan was such an unfair and stingy boss. Hahahaha.

Nothing else of much interest happened in our boring lives, the usual grill goes on daily. Visited Ammi last night, her legs are getting weaker by the day. On a brighter note, the rest of her is much more energetic than last week. I pray that Ammi has a pain-free old age! Ameen.

Nadia, Ameen to that! As usual forgot to take before pics but will show u the after pics :D

Jus, Mohan is an Indian businessman in High Street lolz. Some ppl here can't differentiate between pakis, indians or bangladeshis. Cant blame them anyways, we're all from the same land to start with. before i got off the cab I told him who Mohan is and he had nothing to say :D
