So much for all the holiday plans.... and

This was how the June school holidays started off for Sameer.

Sameer waiting with me for an available bed in the ward.

Well, I know it doesn't look like something a boy would love to do during his school break but he was kind of stuck with me and my admission into the hospital for a minor surgery (saucerisation of abscess on my lower back) which entailed me 2 weeks' worth of hospitalisation leave. Which basically means he got to have me for company, and vice versa, for 2 whole weeks! Nothing exciting for him, but boy was I glad I wasn't left all alone at home when hubby was at work!

The last time I was warded was when I delivered Sameer back in 2001! Back then at least my hubby was with me all the way. This time, I was all alone in the operation theatre. With nothing but a surgical gown and a blanket to cover me, it was damn cold and lonely! Lying down on the bed, all I could see were the white ceiling and walls and the occasional masked nurses and surgeons who kept appearing out of nowhere asking me for my name and ID for verification. The anesthetic, an Indian guy, made the effort to speak in Hindi to me and coaxed me to calm my breathing down as I was being put to sleep. It was sweet of him, reminded me of my dad's voice as I drifted into a very deep sleep while they cut me open! It did cross my mind if I would ever wake up again lolz.

Of all the needles, I hate this the most! It unnerves me to walk around with a needle stuck in my vein! The doctor even spilled like half a tube of my blood on the white sheets while fixing this to my hand! Red blotches of blood on white sheets... Ewwww! I wanted to faint!

Sameer playing with my lenses while I got ready for my surgery.. hehehe

Recovery was sheer boredom! I was well and yet not well enough to participate in any vigorous activity. The lingering after-effects of anesthesia left me zombified for the first week. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it though! :D

Read, sleep, eat, watch tv, read again, sleep again, eat again and on and on it went. Blissss!

2nd week was more productive. Managed to bring Sameer out at least, even if it was just to the library! Sameer and his bigger, older replica, my hubby were gems throughout all these 2 weeks! Thank you guys! At least now I'm convinced all the years of cleaning, cooking and washing for the 2 of you were well worth the effort! :D
